We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of practitioners, many whom have been in our family business from the early days. They are key to our nursery and pride themselves on knowing your child and your family.
We are committed to our staffs continued professional development and are a champion of the apprenticeship programme. Many of our apprentices choose to continue their career in early years and take up qualified posts within our nursery.
Laura Woodman – Director and Nursery Manager
Laura is the nursery manager and director. She has previously chaired a charitable pre-school and has worked in primary schools across all key stages. Having grown up with the nursery in the family, she was delighted to take over the family business in 2019, together with her husband Paul. With her team of dedicated, highly qualified, long serving staff she is able to support children through their early years, preparing them for their next stage of learning. She prides herself on creating an extended ‘family-feel’ and a welcoming nurturing environment in which children are able to reach their full potential.
Paul Woodman – Director and Business Manager
Paul is the nursery business manager and director. As a qualified aircraft engineer, he has a background in civil aviation and served as company director for one of Europe’s most prestigious VIP and charter airlines for over 10 years before starting his own aviation consultancy business and taking over the nursery with Laura. He manages the business and administration aspects of the nursery and the ongoing development and maintenance of the nursery setting.
Kym Shepherd – Nursery Deputy Manager
Kym is the second longest serving member of our team, having joined in 2002 as an apprentice. Since then Kym has continued her professional development and now holds a Level 5 qualification. She has played a key role in supporting the management team to help the nursery grow and develop the quality of our setting. Kym is a kind, warm-hearted staff member with a clear passion for nurturing and caring for young children. She has an excellent rapport with parents, has worked with all ages across our early years setting and is current the Toddler Room Leader.
Jodie Wilkinson – Nursery Deputy Manager & SENCO
Jodie has a wealth of experience in Early Years, holding a Level 5 qualification and has recently been successful in gaining her LEVEL CACHE 3 SENCO qualification. She has a passion for equality and inclusion and understands that children learn in different ways. She believes that every child is able to reach their full potential alongside their peers. In her role as SENCO, Jodie overseas the personal development of children whom require additional support within our nursery. She works closely with the management team to ensure the smooth operational running of the nursery.
Cheryl Walker – Preschool Room Leader
Cheryl is our preschool room leader as the nursery’s longest serving member of staff. Having joined in September 1998, she has dedicated all of her 22 years to our 3 to 5-year olds. Cheryl seen the nursery grow and adapted to changes within the early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Cheryl loves to observe children play and her goal is to help all children achieve their next steps becoming independent learners, ready to take that next journey to school. She has a wealth of knowledge that makes her an excellent mentor for our apprentices.
Haley Marshall – Baby Room Leader
Hayley is our Baby Room lead and responsible for the day-to-day management. Hayley has been at our nursery for 8 years and had experience working across all age groups. She works closely with parents to ensure that their child settles into nursery life and their early physical and emotional needs are met.
Ann Bailey – Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
Ann is a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner in our Toddler Room and our newly qualified Language Lead. If you have any concerns over your child’s speech and language development, Ann will be able to assist and advise you on the referral process as well as how to access help such as the Home Talk programme.
The vast majority of our staff hold a full paediatric first aid qualification. Please see the lost below, for details of which staff hold a current first aid certificate.
