Protecting your child

The Hucknall Day Nursery wants you to feel assured that your child is in the safest hands.  The safeguarding of your child is paramount. Access to the nursery is controlled by fingerprint entry, preventing any unauthorised entry to the building. All nursery play areas are securely fenced and both indoor and outdoor equipment receives regular safety checks by trained staff.  We also have a strict Collection Policy which allows only designated adults to collect your child.  Only these adults will be allowed to collect your child unless you notify us of any changes to these arrangements prior to your child’s collection time.  We ensure that all visitors report to reception where their identity is confirmed.  They are then signed in and given a ‘Visitors’ badge which must be displayed whilst in the setting.  Staff will challenge any unrecognised persons.

All the staff at the Hucknall Day Nursery have undergone a rigorous recruitment process and selection procedure, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check. They have also received safeguarding training.

The nursery is registered and regulated by OFSTED and is subject to an inspection schedule.  For our most recent Ofsted Inspection Report* please visit https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/16/258596. We are also inspected by the Environmental Health and Fire Service departments and have a food hygiene rating of 5.

All of our staff are Full Pediatric First Aid trained and those staff working with babies under 2 have received specialist training in the care of babies.  If children have an accident whilst in our care it will be recorded on an accident sheet that you will need to sign upon collection. Fire drills are practiced and recorded on a regular basis. We also have lockdown policy in place in the unlikely event of any intruder.
